Commitment System Guides Update
Effective Tuesday, July 14, the Minnesota Housing Commitment System Guides converted to webpages. The guides are no longer PDFs but are now webpages that contain all of the same great information and guidance, including short How-To videos and Demos. The Commitment System Guide webpages are still located on the training page in the Lender Toolkit.
Start Up Loan Program Affidavit Loan Deficiency
A missing or incorrectly completed Start Up Loan Program Affidavit is one of the top five loan deficiencies from U.S. Bank Home Mortgage – HFA Division.
The Affidavit is a required Mortgage Revenue Bond (MRB) document. Who must sign it?
- The borrower(s)
- An occupying non-purchasing spouse
- An occupying co-signer
- Any other occupant who will be on title
A sample copy of the Start Up Loan Program Affidavit and the Downpayment Assistance Loan file checklists are available for review in the Forms Guide and Glossary in the Lender Toolkit on the Minnesota Housing website.

2026 Monthly Training Webinars
Navigating Conventional Loans with Minnesota Housing Thursday, July 16 9-10:30 a.m.
This training will help you to understand key features of Minnesota Housing’s exclusive conventional loan products, recognize the differences in conventional products based on the 80% AMI threshold and demonstrate how to use the Program Eligibility Income Worksheet to calculate eligibility income for the Start Up program.
Safe at Home Training Monday, July 20 1-2 p.m.
Safe at Home Address Confidentiality Services are administered by the Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State. Join us and a representative from the Secretary of State Office to learn more about this service and tips for working with borrowers who are Safe at Home participants.
Monthly Update & Hot Topics Call
The Monthly Update & Hot Topics Call is for our lending and other community partners. During these calls we review recent Minnesota Housing updates and important information to help you originate and process our loans. Lenders are welcome to submit questions or topics to discuss on the call. This is a great venue to have more in-depth discussion on advanced topics. If you are a consumer, please visit www.mnhousing.gov to learn more about the programs we offer, the resources available to you and to find a participating lender.
